This is a tribute to our lovely dad Francis Gomes (Frisco to old friends) who loved life and adored his beloved wife Carol, his four sons Mark, Paul, Leon and Ben, his daughter Anna, all his wonderful grandchildren and extended family.
Francis had a hard start in life, deciding to make Hastings his home after leaving his native Bangladesh on his own at a young age. Despite his early challenges, he built his life and career in Hastings where he became Head Chef at St Helens and Mount Pleasant Hospitals for many years. In his work he was well known and respected and made lots of friends.
Francis loved football, playing in a Sunday league team in the early days and avidly watching and passionately supporting his team – Liverpool FC. He always enjoyed a drink and regularly met up with old friends on a Tuesday at his local. Francis enjoyed cooking his curry, only a few weeks ago he was mentoring two of his granddaughters Kaidy and Emily in the kitchen with their cooking skills!
Despite being recently diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, Francis continued to live his life much as normal without complaint and a smile on his face. This is the way he will always be remembered.
We set this page up so more research can be carried out for Pulmonary Fibrosis. Sadly, it was too late for our Dad by the time he was diagnosed but hopefully this will help someone else’s future.
